The Soldotna High baseball team closed-out South Central Conference baseball play with a 9-7 loss to the Kodiak Bears; however, the Stars qualified to the upcoming ASAA State Baseball Championship with a 4-3 victory in the SSC tournament’s semi-final over Colony.
The Stars will open state tournament play on Thursday, June 2nd against Fairbank’s West Valley at Herman Brother’s Field in Palmer.
SCC Championship Game: Kodiak 9 – SoHi 7
The Stars fell in the South Central Conference championship game on Saturday at Herman Brothers Field in Palmer to the Kodiak Bears. SoHi held a 4-2 lead into the 6th inning against the Bears; however, allowed seven runs to Kodiak in the inning. The Bears will be the top seed from the SCC at the state tournament.
SCC Semi-final Game: SoHi 4 – Colony 3
The Stars locked-up a spot at the state baseball tournament with a 4-3 victory over the Colony Knights in the South Central Conference semi-final game. SoHi’s Tyler Marcuson pitched a complete game, as SoHi used a 4-run, fourth inning to outscore the Knights. SoHi qualifies to the state tournament for a second time in three seasons
