Snowmachine Safety Class Planned

10/29/2010

The Safe Kids Coalition has put together another Snowmachine Safety Event for children in the area. Each year, the Coalition puts this together prior to the winter months to make certain the potential accidents associated with snowmachining don’t take place. Jane Fellman, from the Coalition, discussed what has been scheduled.

She said there are various stations everyone goes through at the event. The topics include the use of trails, first aid, dressing for the winter, ice safety issues, snowmachine maintenance and other safety topics. Plus, helmets can be purchased, too. The class has been held since the year 2000. Fellman says it attracts up to 100 children each year. The class was originally created to promote helmet use, reduction of snowmachine injuries, and education for the young snowmachine riders. This event is free, and is taking place on November 6th at the Soldotna Middle School.
