During a presentation to local businessmen and women yesterday, Shell’s Cam Toohey provided an update on the oil giant’s work this year in the arctic waters
Toohey: “Well obviously we’re moving forward with top holes in the Chukchi, and our drill ship in the Beaufort is standing by for the completion of the Kaktovik whale hunt.”
Toohey also explained the companies’ top hole program
Toohey: “well the top hole operation is the procedures that occur in the first 1,500 feet of the well, and what it means is that you wont’ be entering the hydrocarbon that will reserved for next year.”
Toohey did say, despite this year’s apparent setbacks, the 2012 arctic drilling season has been a success.
