Seward Oil Spill

A small fuel spill in Seward harbor prompted several emergency agencies to respond last night around 6pm. Harbormaster Mack Funk explains…

Funk: “We’re not certain of the cause of the spill, but later on in the evening, after we had reported it to the Coast Guard and talked to a vessel owner, he discovered diesel under an inspection plate and realized he had pumped some of it into the harbor.”

The spill included 2-3 gallons of fuel and spread around 150 feet in length, but Funk said there didn’t appear to be any extensive damage.
