Seward Man’s Body Recovered After Monday Drowning Death

The body of a Seward man has been recovered from 20-Mile River.

As we’ve previously reported, 69-year-old Harold Moore died after a boat sank Monday.

Troopers say he and two others were in a 16-foot aluminum boat, and the propeller hit a log about 4.5 miles north of the Seward Highway near Girdwood.

The current pushed the boat back into more logs, leading the boat to take on water and sink.

All three men in the boat were dumped into the river. Two made it to shore and called troopers as Mr. Moore was seen floating down river.

The cause of death for Mr. Moore, who was wearing a full flotation suit, was not immediately known however the state medical examiner’s office has ordered an autopsy.

Troopers didn’t know who was driving the boat as it took on water.
