The harbor in Seward has become the second harbor in the state to be recognized for its clean-up efforts. Mack Funk is the Seward Harbormaster. He said the recognition came from the Alaska Clean Harbors Program.
He said other aspects to it include how the harbor deals with anti-freeze, solid waste and oil spills. He said the city hopes to turn this designation into more improvement projects.
Seward is the second city in the state to receive this clean harbor designation. Homer was the first community.
