Serious Accident Near Anchor Point

Traffic around Mile 153 of the Sterling Highway is being impacted by a serious accident in which one person may have suffered life-threatening injuries.


Troopers report that 51-year-old Kelly Hicks of Utah was traveling north in a Toyota Corolla when he crossed the center line and side-swiped a 2007 Coachman motorhome. Hicks was taken to South Peninsula Hospital in Homer for treatment of those injuries. His passenger and the two people in the motor home were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.


The accident occurred just before 2:15pm, near Anchor Point. Troopers are on-scene investigating, and they say traffic may be impacted for some time as they piece together the incident and clear debris.


According to investigators, the driver’s doors on both vehicles were torn open.
