Senators To Consider “Test Out” Options for High School

The State Senate Education Committee will hold another hearing today on a bill which would allow High School students to test out of classes.

Homer’s Rep. Paul Seaton is the primary sponsor…

Rep. Seaton(R-Homer): “If they can demonstrate mastery of that material to the satisfaction of the District then they could get credit for that course and go on to another more challenging course, instead of sitting in classrooms where they know maybe 85 or 90 percent of the material already.”

The bill passed the House last year, and is now in its second hearing before the Senate committee.
