During his time in Kenai yesterday, Sen. Mark Begich spoke with us about what his top priorities will be for Alaska if he is reelected.

Sen. Begich: “Well obviously to continue to work on the oil and gas development for the state as we’ve been very successful on the national petroleum reserve and the Arctic making sure we keep that moving forward because that’s not only good jobs for Alaska but has huge impact internationally by getting our own oil and gas. Continuing to work on our military making sure they’re continuing as a strong presence in Alaska, sitting on the Appropriations Committee will engage the resources that we need to make sure that we have the right resources to support. But also focused on issues of education, social security, tax reform, these are issues that are all important to Alaskans and things that I hear about every day.”

Sen. Begich said he has already begun working on tax reform with two other senators, simplifying the filing form down to one page and reducing the tax rates from 6 to 3.
