Sen. Murkowski Says Shale Boom Should Be in State Hands

Posted: May 23, 2013 at 12:30 pm

When it comes to regulating domestic natural gas production, U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski is arguing: let the States handle it.

Sen. Murkowski(R-AK): “But I think we need to recognize that these formations differ greatly in geography and geology. I’ve been up to your state, Senator Hoeven, and know that things in the Bakkan are different than they might be in the Eagle Ford or in the Utica or the Marcellus. These are unique characteristics, which make uniform regulations difficult. And so if you have kind of a one-size-fits-all, maybe that’s not best¬†practices.”

The State’s Senior Senator was speaking at a forum on the shale boom, in front of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
