Sen. Begich Sends The President an Unusual Gift

Sen. Mark Begich is sending President Obama a sample of smoked Alaska salmon and a letter promoting the wild specimen. This follows Obama’s mention of salmon in his State of the Union address.

This mention caught the attention of many Alaskans, and Begich wanted the president and his family to have a taste of smoked wild salmon.

The salmon was accompanied by a letter saying that he thinks one taste will convince the president that salmon are “best kept wild.”

Sen. Begich has been fighting to bar federal approval to use genetically altered salmon for food.
