The U.S. Coast Guard and six Civil Air Patrol aircraft have launched a search for an overdue plane that left Soldotna yesterday.
The red and white Cessna 180 left Soldotna for the Chakachamna Lake, north of the Cook Inlet at 1:30 pm Wednesday with one person on board and did not return by 4 pm as expected.
A water and shoreline search was launched this morning and the Coast Guard’s 17th District issued an urgent information broadcast in the Anchorage area.
This is a developing story and we will continue to update as information becomes available.
