Search Continues for Missing Kenai Family

This afternoon a team of five Kenai Police officers and investigators organized an additional search for the missing Kenai Family.

As officers headed into a densely wooded and swampy area off of Borgen Avenue in North Kenai it was apparent the frozen ground would make searching the marshy areas easier.

Beforehand, Kenai Police Lt. Dave Ross said they have still not concluded whether the outerwear found in their October 23 search is from the family but detailed why they were going back into the area.

Lt. Ross: “We know that from several people that Brandon Jividen walked in this area and this was his normal stomping grounds, he spent time walking back there in the woods and hanging out there so we know that’s an area that he’s familiar going and it’s in proximity to the house.”

He also said that in an aerial search before the October 23 ground search, police spotted an unidentified item which they intended to check today while in the area.

Other reasons for revisiting included the possibility of animals or weather having possibly moved evidence so it would be easier to find.

Lt. Ross headed the search along with investigators Sgt. Ben Langham, Paul Cushman and Alex Prins and Officer Dan Smith.

The search has been on top of the Kenai Police Department’s priorities since 23 year-old Rebecca Adams, 6 year-old Michelle Hundley, 3 year-old Jaracca Hundley, and 37 year-old Brandon Jividen disappeared in late May.

We will continue to cover this story in depth as findings from today’s search are released.
