School Quarter Winds Down

The local school district has a full calendar this week, for both administrators and students. Superintendent Dr. Steve Atwater…

Dr. Atwater: “No school Friday for the kids, which is great news for them. Quarter is already ending. Hard to believe that the first quarter’s already coming to a close. Teachers will be working on Friday, but no school for kids. And then on Tuesday night at the KCHS, Borough Honor Choir Concert will be there at 6 o’clock. Thursday morning at 10:17, the entire school district will participate in the Great Alaska Shake Out, and this is a national earthquake drill to practice drop, cover and hold on. So, if you’re a parent, you might talk to your kids about what it was like to be under a desk.”

The annual Great Alaska Shake Out isn’t just for students, to learn more about what to do before, during, and after an earthquake; including information for seniors and those with disabilities, visit www.ready.gov/earthquakes.
