School District Receives Arbitrator’s Advisory Award/Opinion

The Arbirtrator’s Advisory Award/Opinion was received by the local school district and education associations on Thursday.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) negotiating team and both Kenai Peninsula Education Association (KPEA) and Kenai Peninsula Education Support Association (KPESA) teams have been participating in collective bargaining since January, 2012, and entered into Advisory Interest Arbitration in October 2012.

The school district administration received the Arbitrator’s Advisory Award/Opinion on December 21, 2012, and is in the process of reviewing it.

Pegge Erkeneff with KPBSD said school board will review the Arbitrator’s Advisory Award/Opinion in executive session on January 14, 2013, during a regularly scheduled school board meeting.

At that point, collective bargaining will resume between the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) negotiating team and both Kenai Peninsula Education Association (KPEA) and Kenai Peninsula Education Support Association (KPESA) on January 22, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.

The Arbitrator’s Advisory Award/Opinion can be viewed or downloaded on the KPBSD website school district collective bargaining page, or via the homepage from a link in the Community Interest section.
