School Bus Fleet Scrapped Due To Age

Many of the school buses which have been picking up local children have just been retired. We spoke to Pegge Erkeneff with the local school district…

Erkeneff: “Last August, when our new 5 year contract started, part of that contract stipulated that we would have approximately 80 percent of the fleet replaced, and that for two reasons. The first reason is in the contract, the age of the fleet – the average age of our whole fleet of what we call our big buses – can’t be more than 12 years old. Then the average age of any bus can’t be more than 10 years old.”
