School Bus Accident in Seward, No Injuries

An impaired driver was held by local residents after side-swiping a school bus on Saturday evening.

The bus was carrying a football team along the Seward Highway when it was hit at 11pm Saturday, Troopers say there were 26 passengers on board.

29-year-old Brandon Mason of Seward crossed the center line of the Seward Highway, around Mile 6 in Seward. Mason narrowly avoided a head-on collision and instead scraped the side of the school bus.

No passengers were injured. Mason attempted to flee on foot but was found and held by witnesses until Troopers arrived.

Troopers report that Mason was impaired by alcohol, and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, and Reckless Endangerment. He was remanded at the Seward Jail.
