School Board Establishing Rules for Service Dogs

The School Board has started discussing the necessary policy for service dogs that assist students with disabilities.  Board President Joe Arness said the work has just begun.

The proposed policy focuses on liability issues pertaining to the potential damage to school property by the dogs,  and the responsibilities placed on the owner of the dog during school hours. 

 

This is just one of several proposed policy changes.  Some of the other changes pertain to migrant children, student records,  and the district’s with vendors.
