Friday could be complicated, since it’s both Bike to Work Day and Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day. As the weather is warming up, local groups are encouraging outdoor activities and safety.
Bike to Work day is supported in part by Southcentral Foundation (SCF) and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), who say the event helps reduce traffic, improve air quality, and provide opportunity for exercise.
Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day is supported by the Coast Guard and the Kenai Challenger Learning Center and serves as a reminder for boating safety. Greg Olcott with the Challenger Center said it’s especially important in Alaska, where waterways cover so much of the state and are such an integral part of our summer activities.
