Republicans, Democrats Agree: ACES Would Have Been Worse

It’s rare to hear Republican and Democratic state representatives agree on Senate Bill 21 – the Governor’s new oil taxes – but the $2 billion drop in forecasted oil and gas tax revenue saw some agreement.

House Minority Leader Beth Kerttula agreed with the Governor that it would have been worse under the previous law, ACES…

Rep. Kertulla(D-Juneau): “He has a point and actually, myself and my caucus led on having a limit on the costs and we had something called the Standard Deduction that didn’t allow them to go  above certain limits, and unfortunately that got sunsetted.”

Kerttula said ACES needed improvements, but she’s still not a fan of SB21.
