Rep. Seaton Outlines Proposed Invasive Species Legislation

As we’ve reported, Rep. Paul Seaton of Homer  has introduced legislation in the State House to address various invasive species throughout the state. During a recent conversation, the Homer Republican outlined this legislation.

Rep. Seaton(R-Homer): “Some the things that we’ve seen are pike, and Elodea, which is an aquatic plant that can really clog things up. In the marine  waters we’ve had what’s called sea vomit, it’s got a big long name, almost could be working on closing the whole Sitka sine herring fishery, and we want to make sure that we don’t have those economic losses.”

Seaton said that this legislation would help fast track a way to rid the waters of such species.
