Rep. Olson Hopes Parnell Will Check in on Fisheries

Representative Kurt Olson said he’s troubled by the state of local fisheries, and is hoping Governor Sean Parnell will get a chance tomorrow to see how things are progressing…

Rep. Olson(R-Soldotna): “We’re hoping that we can get the Governor to at least do a fly over of the mouth of the river tomorrow on his way down to Homer for the¬†barbecue, so he can see firsthand the impact on that, and maybe, quite possibly, follow the coast all the way down to Homer so he can see the fisheries at the Kasilof, the set netters or at least their sites, and the whatever the drift fleet’s doing. But there is no easy answer to this, and I wish I had a magic wand.”

Rep. Olson said he’s been on the phone to the Governor and the Department constantly, looking for updates on the fisheries.
