The Alaska Redistricting Board is getting down to work on the new state electorates, with work sessions scheduled for July 5 through July 12.

The Kenai Legislative Information Office will be screening the sessions, which will be held in Anchorage on the following days:

Friday July 5, 2013 at 11:00am

Saturday July 6, 2013 at 10:00am

Sunday July 7, 2013 at 10:00am

Monday July 8, 2013 at 10:00am

Tuesday July 9, 2013 at 10:00am

Wednesday July 10, 2013 at 10:00am

Thursday July 11, 2013 at 10:00am

Friday July 12, 2013 at 10:00am

As we’ve reported, the Board is considering 7 of its own draft plans and three presented by the public. The new plan could mean a reshuffle of the Peninsula’s State Senate boundaries, shifting Sen. Cathy Giessel further north.

Sen. Giessel(R-S. Anchorage: “Well, I think that a couple of them are pretty dramatic changes. I think that’s obvious, of course, and I wonder about a couple of the maps, how they’re putting like communities together. In other words, the pairings seem to be not with similar communities and interests.”
