Rain Causes Numerous Outages Over the Weekend

Several areas on the Kenai Peninsula, this weekend, suffered disruptions in their electrical service.  Homer Electric Association spokesman Joe Gallagher said the disruptions were caused by the rain.

He said the first outage was at 7 a.m. on Sunday, on Miller Loop in Nikiski, affecting about 138 people.  Power was restored at about 12:30 p.m.  Another outage occurred at 12:30 p.m., in Soldotna, near the intersection of Marydale and the Kenai Spur.  Some businesses were affected.  Power was restored at 5:30 p.m.   In the Kasilof area, HEA members experienced blinks, where the electricity would briefly shut down and then restore itself.  Gallagher said this affected about 3,700 people on Sunday afternoon.
