Prior to the Homer Electric Association’s annual membership meeting last Wednesday in Kenai, the local cooperative provided tours of the new Nikiski Combined Cycle generation plant. HEA’s Joe Gallagher told that the new plant is a keystone of HEA’s Independent Light project to produce 100% of power locally beginning in 2014.
We asked Gallagher about the tours
Gallagher “We had well over 100-HEA members show up to take a tour of the plant. We had three HEA engineers serving as tour guides. From everything we’ve heard, all the feedback that we’ve heard from the members who attended and took the tour, they were very impressed with the information they received, so we were very pleased with the outcome of the tours, and glad to have the opportunity to show off what it really a great great plant for Homer Electric.”
