Progress Being Made on HEA Upgrades

As we have reported previously, Homer Electric Association has decided to make upgrades at its Soldotna facilities and Nikiski facilities as the end of its power supply contract with Chugach Electric gets closer. HEA’s plan is to be online in 2012 with its improvements at Nikiski to add existing power to its current facilities. The power upgrades in Soldotna are also expected to be completed prior to the end of the contract with Chugach Electric in 2013. Earlier this year, Janorschke explained that HEA was starting to review bids for the cost of these power upgrades. On Wednesday, Janorschke was able to update us on the status of the bids.
