Processors Feeling the Bite of Regulations

Restrictions on set net fisheries are having long-reaching consequences. Other businesses in the fishing industry are having to adapt to this year’s changes, including local processors.

 

Paul Dale, President of Snug Harbor Seafoods say they may see overwhelming numbers of fish come in as drift netters catch record harvests.

Dale said the only other alternative was for fish to be shipped elsewhere inAlaska, to be processed. That was definitely his preference.

 

More will be known in the next couple of days, but in the meantime Dale said he was concerned the Department of Fish and Game was flying blind.
