Prescription Drug Turn In Event Being Held This Weekend

As you look through the medicine cabinet and notice that you many have some outdated prescriptions on hand, and Soldotna Professional Pharmacy and Law Enforcement agencies in the local area are coming together with a concerted effort for prescription drug take back.  Friday the 27th, Soldotna Professional Pharmacy will be taking back outdated prescriptions, and Sgt. Duane Kant of the Soldotna Police Department said that the SPD will take the harder items…

Sgt. Kant: “You know, here at the police department we’re tying to focus on the controlled substances, because pharmacies can’t take back medications that are considered controlled subsistence by the federal government, so they need us to do that. All of the other prescription medications, the over the counter stuff that they want to turn in, they can do that anytime at Soldotna Professional Pharmacy.”

You can take any outdated non controlled prescription to any local pharmacy, and taking controlled substances to the police helps keep the prescriptions out of the reach of those who are not intended to take them. You can drop off prescriptions anonymously at the lobby of the Soldotna police department.
