A powerful storm is expected to move through southcentral Alaska tonight, bringing high winds and heavy rain.
The National Weather Service says the storm is developing over the north pacific and will intensify rapidly as it makes its way along the southwest coast of Alaska.
The strongest winds are expected along western Turnagain Arm, but heavy rain and wind will be widespread. This storm is very early in the season, and since the ground isn’t yet frozen, the Weather Service says there’s a greater potential for the wind to blow trees over, causing power outages.
Along with the potential for power outages, heavy rain could flood local waterways.
