The 4th of July holiday is quickly approaching, and Kenai Police Lt. Dave Ross has a reminder for residents who plan to celebrate the nation’s birthday in the “traditional fashion.”
Lt. Ross: “The use of fireworks in the City of Kenai is prohibited and the sale of fireworks in the City of Kenai is prohibited, both by City Ordinance. You can face up to a $500 fine for doing that.”
According to Borough Chief of Staff Paul Ostrander, the use of fireworks is forbidden within the Kenai Peninsula Borough outside of the boundaries of the cities of Homer, Kachemak City, Kenai, Seldovia, Seward and Soldotna.
The City of Seward does have plans for a fireworks display this year.
