A blue and white Cessna 180 made an emergency landing on the Seward Highway near Potter Marsh just before 2:30 pm today.

Anchorage Fire Department spokesman John See said shortly after 2:15 pm the department got a call from Merrill Field that an aircraft was having issues near Potter Marsh.

The plane could not be seen by the air tower after it descended below the horizon.

See: “After he touched down, apparently there was enough fuel and the attitude of the aircraft changed enough, there was some additional fuel, that he was able to restart the engine and taxi it off the highway. Now parked at the south end of Potter Marsh, there’s a small parking lot.”

The plane was reportedly flying from Seldovia to Merrill Field.

See: “No injuries and the aircraft was undamaged. We did understand that there was a narrow miss with at least one vehicle and we don’t know any details about that.”
