Persily Against In-State Line

11/30/2010

Last week’s audience at the Soldotna and Kenai Chamber Luncheon were updated on the status of the natural gas pipeline from the North Slope. Larry Persily is the Federal Coordinator for the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects. He discussed the disadvantages to bringing the North Slope Line to this part of the state, instead of taking it to the Lower 48. He said one of the disadvantages is marketing the gas after its liquefied. He said there are already enough countries producing LNG for the Asian markets. Persily said the natural gas from the North Slope would fill the depleting supply in Alberta. Persily said shale gas production in the United States would not be enough to replenish the supply in the Lower 48. Persily also said some communities are worried about the impacts to water supplies due to the process that recovers the shale gas.

Why should we give Canada control of ANY of Alaskas resources? We are running short of gas on the peninsula not in the lower 48!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a perfect opportunity to bring to focus the issue of “Who’s In-Charge in Juneau?”

The REPUBLICAN House of Representatives,REPUBLICAN Senate & REPUBLICAN Governor have been the Majority In-Charge in Juneau for the last 30 long years.

Now lets appoint a Committee to see if that is True.

Talk,Talk then Talk some more & when that’s done Lets Talk Some More.
Appoint a Committee to Research the Natural Gas PipeLine for a few more years.

Then appoint a Committee to see if there are any Natural Gas Issues that have not been
assigned to yet another committee ? Then Talk Some More about Natural Gas for a few years. Oh & Give Away $500 Million Dollars to the Builder of the PipeLine has hasn’t Constructed anything yet while they are Laughing All the Way to the Bank ??
    Explain THAT One ??

Then Kenai Peninsula Residents end up $Paying$ for LNG Super Tankers to dock in
Nilkski & un-load Natural Gas from a source OutSide of the State & Pay Big Time for that
extremely expensive LNG Gas to heat their Homes.

Meanwhile Back at the Ranch in Juneau, Our Legistlators are STILL TALKING ABOUT A
GAS PIPELINE while We Pay Thru the Nose for Imported Natural Gas.

Say It Ain’t So ! That couldn’t Happen Here in Alaska Could It ?? Paying for Imported Natural Gas ? Never Happen Here !

Who has been In-Charge in Juneau for the last 30 years ?

    SPW in Slooooooowdotna
