Lewis said that the major cause of the hits has been eagles flying in front of cars. He said, each year, there seems to be a large number of different animals hit by motorists.

Lewis says motorists need to remain alert to avoid the animals.
16 Eagles killed in 2 months by vehicles on the highways………………..sounds like a pretty serious problem to me. Although I am not surprised that Ak fish & game does not see it as a serious problem…………….I don’t think they see anything as a serious problem…………except wolves!!!!
Are some of the eagles juveniles as opposed to adult birds? I’ve seen many more juvenile eagles around the area in the last few years and they can often be seen in groups feeding on a road kill on the highway. The adults chase them away from the “easy” food sources so they have to scrounge where they can.
