As the short Alaskan summer comes to a quick cold end, unfinished projects pile up. One project which has been waylaid, the Paint the Kenai mural to be installed at the Kenai Airport.

Project coordinator Marcus Mueller said the time has just slipped away and volunteer interest has been hard to pique.

Mueller: “Working on that as a volunteer summer has been really difficult but we’re looking to get that finished up and installed in October, I was hoping for September but I just couldn’t get enough attraction with my own time on that.”

He said anyone interested in volunteering for the installation may contact the Soldotna Rotary Club.

Mueller: “The Soldotna Rotary Club has taken the installation of the mural on as a club project and so we’re looking at it being a volunteer oriented project to install the mural and looking forward to seeing that happen, the details of bringing that together are just a matter of getting it coordinated and getting it on the calendar.”

Mueller said a debate as to whether to take down a tree in front of where the mural is planned to go is still being discussed.
