Ostrander Races To Cross Country State Threepeat

Allie Ostrander, KCHS senior, raced to a third-straight 4A girls cross country running championship with a commanding victory on Saturday at the 2014 ASAA Alaska Cross Country Running Championships at Bartlett High School.

Allie completed the 5-kilometer Bartlett Trails course in 17 minutes and 6 seconds, followed by Soldotna High’s Olivia Hutchings in second and SoHi’s Dani McCormick finished fourth overall.  Other top 25 finishes included Kenai’s Riana Boonstra in 8th; SoHi’s Daisy Nelson, 20th; Kenai’s Allison Gibson 22nd.

The Soldotna Stars girls team finished second in the team scoring, the runner-up to West Anchorage for a second year.  Adding to the peninsula dominance, the Kenai girls finished in third in the team scoring.

 4A Boys Division Results

In the boys 4A division, Kodiak’s Levi Thomet repeats as the large school champion.  Kenai’s Jonah Theisen finished second overall and Jordan Theisen finished 6th.  Kenai’s Travis Cooper finished 19th and SoHi’ s Aaron Swedberg, 32nd.  The Kardinal boys placed fifth in the team scoring.

1-2-3A Division

The Homer Mariner girls raced to the team championship on the strength of a runner-up finish for Megan Pitzman and a fourth place for Molly Mitchell.
