One Injured in Shooting in Kenai

The Kenai Police this evening responded to a reported shooting at the Home Depot location on the Kenai Spur Highway and Marathon Ave.

Kenai Police Chief Gus Sandahl told us that crews responded to the scene just after 6:40pm to the reports of shots fired.

An unidentified 23 year-old male  shot in the chest in the parking lot of the store, and was subsequently transported to Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.

That individuals condition is unknown as of this evening.

Chief Sandahl did say that the KPD has identified the 25-year-old male suspect, however, Sandahl said that the name of said suspect will not be released as crews are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

 

Chief Sandahl did say that the the Home Depot area is now safe.
