One Candidate Withdraws from HEA Board Ballot

Shortly after being finalized, one candidate has withdrawn their name from the ballot for the upcoming Homer Electric Association Board of Directors vote.

HEA’s Joe Gallagher told us yesterday that Dan Hammond of Nikiski has asked to have his name removed from consideration for the HEA District 1 seat.

Remaining candidates for the District 1 seat, which represents Kenai, Nikiski, and portions of Soldotna, are Dan Chay and Glenese Pettey, both of whom are from Kenai.

As we’ve reported, the ballots will be mailed to Homer Electric members on April 1. Completed mail-in ballots must be received by April 30 in order to be valid.

HEA members will also have an opportunity to vote at the Annual Meeting which will be held May 1 at the Kenai Central High School
