Oilers Post 9-7 Win Over Chinooks To Open Home Series

In a game which featured 24 hits and 13 walks, the Peninsula Oilers recorded a 9-7 victory over the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks on Tuesday in Alaska Baseball League action at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

The Oilers seemed to have the game well in-hand after taking a 9-1 lead following a six-run eighth inning; which included four hits and four walks.  The Chinooks made a game of it with their own six-run inning, scoring six runs on two hits, four walks and two hit batters in the top of the ninth inning.  Oilers reliever Tyler Gibson struck out the final two batters for the save for the Oilers.  Jake Sandlin lead the way for the home team offensively with three RBI on two hits; Myles Jones, Jordan Sanford and Nick Thurman each added two RBI.

 

The Oilers stand at 5-5 in the ABL.

 

The Oilers host the Chinooks on Wednesday and Thursday in the three-game series.  Game times scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
