In-spite-of five errors, the Peninsula Oilers held-off the Anchorage Bucs 5-2 for an Alaska Baseball League victory in the Oilers first league game of 2014.
The Oilers opened the scoring with a four-run, second inning which included four hits. From there, the Oilers turned-away numerous opportunities for the Bucs, allowing only a two-run fifth inning.
The Oilers defense turned a game-ending, bases-loaded 5-2-3 double play to cement the Oilers 5-2 victory. In the contest, the Oilers through out runners at home, third and first, each time ending a Bucs threat. For the game, the Oilers scored five runs on seven hits and committed five errors; the Bucs, two runs on eight hits.
The Oilers stand at 1-0 in the ABL and the Bucs drop to 5-2 in league play.
