Oilers Open ABL Season With 6-5 Victory Over Miners In Extra Innings

The Peninsula Oilers opened Alaska Baseball League play on Wednesday with a 6-5, 13-inning victory over the Mat-Su Miners. 

Dillon Dobson drove in the game-winner with a walk-off single with bases-loaded in the 13th inning.  GJ Strauss earned the win on the mound pitching the final four innings in relief.  The Oilers combined for 14 hits and seven pitchers took to the mound for the Oilers.

The Oilers are 1-0 in ABL action.

The Oilers continue a 38-game run against Alaska League teams, including 35 ABL league games, on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at Coral Seymour Memorial Park with game two of a three-game series against the Miners.  The Oilers play the Miners on Friday; then sponsor a Triple Play Fundraiser, a beer tasting, tailgate party at Oilers park for the entire family, from 2-5 p.m. Saturday.  The OIlers begin a nine-game in eight day roadtrip on Sunday, June 23.
