The Peninsula Oilers closed the 2014 home series against the Alaska Goldpanners with one of the Oilers best offensive performances in a 13-10 loss to the Alaska Baseball League’s top offensive teams and ABL regular season champions.
The Oilers and Panners combined for 23 runs on 33 hits in Sunday’s home finale for the Oilers. The Oilers lead 1-0 after two innings and the game was tied at 2-2 after the fourth inning. The Panners scored three in the fifth inning and eight runs in the sixth, as the Oilers added two in both the fifth and sixth. The Oilers, down 13-6, rallied with four runs in the ninth inning to close to the 13-10 final score.
The Oilers close the 2014 season on the road at Chugiak-Eagle River playing the Chinooks on Monday night at 6:00 p.m.

The Goldpanners continue league play on Monday and will face the Mat-Su Miners on Tuesday and Wednesday at Mulcahy Park in the ABL Top of the World Series. The best 2 of 3 series will crown the ABL champion for 2014.
