Oilers Bats Lead To 6-3 Win Over Seals

For a second-straight game, the Peninsula Oilers use a single inning outburst to power their way to a non-league victory over the San Francisco Seals.  The Oilers improve to 2-0 on the season with a 6-3 victory Monday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

The Oilers lead 2-0 into the seventh inning scoring the first run in the first inning and adding a run in the fifth inning. The Seals tied the game 2-2 in the top of the seventh; the Oilers answered with a five-hit, four run bottom of the seventh.  Lead-off hitter Carter Yagi knocked-out three hits and AJ Hernandez, in the two hole, recorded three hits and three RBI.  Starting pitcher Dallas DeVrieze pitched six innings and struck out seven batters while throwing only 55 pitches.

 

In other Alaska Baseball League action, the Mat-Su Miners downed the Chugiak Chinooks 10-7 and the Anchorage Glacier Pilots defeated the Anchorage Bucs 4-1.

 

The Peninsula Oilers continue their four-game series against the Seals on Tuesday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  Game time set for 7:00 p.m.  Follow the Oilers on ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com.
