Oilers Bats Find Their Pop: Top Seals 6-2

A barrage of extra-base hits and another quality performance by a starting pitcher were the keys to a 6-2 Peninsula Oilers victory over the San Fransisco Seals.


The Oilers captured a second-straight victory over the Seals behind a six inning, two-hit, nine strikeout performance by starter GJ Strauss.

Five extra-base hits including three doubles, a triple and the first home run of the season highlighted a nine hit day for the offense.  Taylor Tempel belted a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Oilers a 6-0 lead.

The Oilers series with the Seals stands at 2-1 in favor of the Oilers with one game remaining in the series on Friday.

Friday is a free day of baseball sponsored by the Soldotna and Kenai Elks.  Friday is Flag Day and a Flag Day ceremony is schedule for 6:30 p.m. on the field at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
