No Injuries in Lake Hood Plane Crash

2/21/2012

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says no injuries were reported in last night’s single-engine plane crash at the Lake Hood West Waterline.  Fergus said three people were on board the Cessna 182.  It was registered to Thomas Northcutt of Anchorage.  However, its not known if Northcutt was on the plane at the time of the crash.  Fergus said neither the FAA nor NTSB releases names of those onboard.

The unnamed pilot told Anchorage reporters that he was unaware there was unplowed snow on the airstrip. He said as the Cessna 182 touched down, snow began to fly over the nose of the plane and it flipped.

Fergus said both the FAA and NTSB would investigate the accident, with the NTSB being the lead investigative agency.
