A full week of basketball featured the ERA Nikiski Tipoff Basketball Tournament and a series of Northern Lights Conference basketball games; with teams from the northern division of the NLC traveling to the peninsula. ERA Nikiski Tip-off Tournament The Cook Inlet Academy girls and the Houston Hawk boys claim the Nikiski Tip-off titles, finishing tournament play with 3-0 records. The CIA girls defeated Homer 49-38 on Saturday for their third win of the tournament. Amie Smithwick lead the Eagles with 18 points. The Nikiski girls closed-out the tournament with a 46-41 win over Houston. The Bulldogs finish 2-1 at the tip-off tournament.

Northern Lights Conference: Game Results
Skyview Panthers Boys vs Kodiak The Skyview boys hosted Kodiak for a pair of games against the Bears. Friday’s game goes to the Bears, and counted on the NLC conference record. Saturday, the Bears defeated Skyview 59-35.
SoHi Basketball The Stars recorded the only wins of the weekend against teams from the northern division of the Norhtern Lights Conference. SoHi scored a pair of wins on Saturday against the Palmer Moose. The Star girls, behind a 26-point second-quarter, defeat Palmer 56-41. Karen Senette scored 16 points for the SoHi girls. The SoHi boys recorded a conference win over the Moose boys 70-63. SoHi lead 49-41 after the third quarter. Palmer, behind 9 of 10 freethrows, took the lead at 61-60. SoHi rallied late for the win; as Boomer Blossom converted six-straight freethrows and DJ Stilchen scored four field goals.
On Friday, the Colony Knights took a pair from SoHi. The Star girls trailed by only two at the half 15-13, before dropping a 41-28 decision. The Star boys, down by three after three quarters, fell 68-56 to the Knights.
Kenai Basketball The Kardinals finished the weekend without a conference win against Palmer or Colony. The Kenai girls came closest, pushing Palmer to overtime in a 45-43 Moose win on Friday. The Kardinal boys fell behind early and dropped a 63-50 game to the Moose. Saturday at Kenai, the Colony Knights finished their sweep of the peninsula teams with a 56-34 win in the girls game and a 62-32 win in the boys contest.
