Community members in Nikiski have mobilized to help a 38 year-old man fighting three different diseases.

This weekend a fundraiser for Myron MaGahan’s medical expenses is planned and Darcy McCaughey has been assisting.

McCaughey: “This Saturday, March 21st, at the Nikiski Rec Center in the banquet room we are hosting a spaghetti feed and auction for this medical fundraiser. The doors are going to open at 5 o’clock and dinner will be served at 5:30 and the auctions will begin at 6:30. We have such a huge variety of items that will be auctioned off, and several different types of auctions, there’s going to be a Chinese auction, silent auction, outcry.”

She said the sheer number of people who have come together to help has been overwhelming.

MaGahan has been a lifelong Nikiski resident and had a longstanding diagnosis of Chron’s disease.

He was working even with that chronic disease until 2012 when he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.

Then just six months ago MaGahan was found to have stage 3 colorectal cancer.
