Nikiski Man Arrested After Threatening to Set Car on Fire with Someone Inside it
Friday night, at roughly 7:45pm, The Alaska State Troopers post in Soldotna received a report of a man, identified as 44-year-old Jeffrey Bettis of Nikiski, pouring gasoline on a vehicle and threatening to light it on fire with someone in the vehicle.
Troopers responded to the residence and contacted an intoxicated Jeffery Bettis at the residence.
Subsequent investigation revealed Mr. Bettis committed the crimes of Assault in the 3rd degree (DV), Attempted Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree (DV), Attempted Arson in the 1st degree (DV), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 2nd degree.
Bettis was further charged with Disorderly Conduct and Assault in the 4th degree on Peace Officer after kicking one of the arresting troopers.
Bettis was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial with no bail.
