Nikiski House Fire

Nikiski fire fighters battled a house fire in Nikiski across from North Star elementary Monday morning. According to Captain J.T. Harris of the Nikiski fire department, the house was ignited from the outside.

Captain Harris also said than even though they had a great response and a good initial interior attack on the burn, the top two stories were a total loss and the rest of the house received significant damage.

What a surprise that even with all the fire departments latest and expensive toys “the house was a total loss”. I hadn’t heard that line since the last fire.

Nikiski Firefighters did a great job on this fire. The fire was extinguished within 5 minutes after they arrived on scene. The department did receive two new pieces of apparatus that replaces older fire engines purchased in the early 80′s that was purchased in part with a grant from the State of Alaska.
