Nikiski CPU Not Eliminating Service, Just Returning to Contract

For a number of years Nikiski’s Contract Postal Unit has offered delivery of some 99611 mail per request from the Kenai Post Office, but has now returned to just contract obligations.

Rep. Mike Chenault read a portion of a letter received by some residents who had been privy to that courtesy.

Rep. Chenault: “The CPU has voluntarily and as a courtesy to the community provided parcel pickup service to the CPS route customers, due to the new post office box services provided at the Nikiski CPU for P.O. Box holders, they can no longer provide the parcel pickup service for the contract delivery service customers. Starting immediately all parcels, certified mail, priority mail express, and postage due, form 3849 are to be picked up at the Kenai Post Office until further notice.”

Recently those voluntary services had become too much of a burden so the CPU is returning to just the services in its contract, however Nikiski residents with their 99635 addresses will continue to receive normal post office services including parcel pickup and certified mail.
