U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski and her colleague Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) have joined together again to form a bipartisan act titled “The Follow the Money Act of 2013.”
Sen. Murkowski’s office says the Act was designed “to address the influx of anonymous federal election spending and bring transparency and consistency to campaign finance law.”
Sen. Murkowski(R-AK): “If someone wants to be a major player in this political process, they don’t get that anonymity that they presently receive. The public will be able to get that real-time information that is critical. We level that playing field by requiring all independent spenders play by the same rules. The rules are the same for everyone, whether you’re wealthy, whether you’re the well-organized funders, the tax-exempt social welfare organizations.”
